The Amityville Terror Review (2016)

The Amityville Terror is predictable B-horror film about haunted house.

The Story

The is about a family who moves into an old house in Amityville.  Soon the family is tormented by malicious ghost. But soon they find out there is something wrong with the whole town.

The Review (Spoiler Free)

First of all, don’t be tricked, this movie has nothing to do with Amityville film series.

There is nothing unique and original about this movie.  The movie is very predictable and We’ve seen this type of story many times before.  So I am not sure why they keep making this type of movie.  Not only the movie is not original, it has bad acting, terrible script, and cheesy special effects.  Even so called, surprise twist of the movie isn’t really surprise.  We’ve seen it many times before.

The Amityville Terror tells the story from the rebellious teen’s perspective.  The teen character named Hailey played by Nicole Tompkins, moved into the new town only to face with unfriendly and mean peers.  But she is able to find love with only friendly boy in town who also help her to survive.  How many times you heard this type of story?

In terms of acting, besides the lead actor, Kaiwi Lyman, rest of the casts are average and below average actors. Rest of the casts are pretty much bimbo type of characters you see in many typical B-movies.

In the Nutshell

The Amityville Terror is cheesy B-horror that made for DVD.  I give 1 out of 5 stars.

  1. Dang, after seeing the poster for this, and actually seeing The Amityville Horror remake…people DO realize that the real house is in a suburb, right? Not far at all from neighboring houses. Yes, it was built in the ’20s, but it wasn’t half castle or 1800s mansion. I get it, make it look insanely older or like it’s out in the middle of nowhere = spooky. Supposedly. But for me, the creepiness was always the fact that it IS a normal house in a suburb. It could be any house. I don’t believe the story is real, of course, as it is an admitted hoax, but taken purely as horror fiction, the book is one of the scariest I’ve read. Done right, a really scary movie could, and SHOULD be made out of The Amityville Horror.
