The Review (Spoiler Free)

The concept of The Bye Bye Man is bit unique t but the movie itself isn’t so original.  When I was watching it, I didn’t know anything about The Bye Bye Man, so I was intrigued to find out what he is all about.

The movie does start out very good.  It has some of few very good jump scares and the very creepy start.  But the movie eventually reveals who The Bye Bye Man is and we get to see what he looks like, it is no longer scary.

The movie looks good.  It has many scenes where the camera moves around the characters and it looks very good.

But I am disappointed with the special effect.  The Bye Bye man is with what it seems like some kind of dog.  The creepy dog is in CGI, but it isn’t very good CGI.  Also some scenes with gunshots and blood is done in CGI and it is very obvious.

I was also very disappointed with the acting.  The lead character Elliot, played by Douglas Smith was only descent actor.  The girl friend and his best friend played by Lucien Laviscount, and Cressida Bonas are terrible.  It was so terrible, it was I was distracted from the story line.  It was pretty surprising consider this movie as pretty big budgeted movie. The movie’s budge is about $7 mil.

The ending was pretty typical horror movie ending.  It left open for possible sequel.  Not sure if they are going to make sequel or not, but it is one of those typical horror ending.

At the end, we don’t know too much about The Bye Bye man and where he came from.  It is possible that they are saving it for sequel? We will see.

In the Nutshell

The Bye Bye Man isn’t anything nothing special, but it isn’t bad either.

I give 3 out of 5 stars.
