The Story

The story is about young executive in struggling financial company named Lockhart.  CEO of the company is in some kind of “wellness center” in Sweden and Lockhart is sent to bring him back to NY.  Once he is there, he starts to suspect that this “wellness center” is not an ordinary wellness center.  There is something dark lurking behind the “wellness center”.

The Review (Spoiler Free)

If you look at the trailer, the movie does look like really cool horror film.  But I hate to say I can’t really categorize Cure for Wellness is as horror film.  It does have bit of horror element but is it more of mystery thriller.

The movie starts our very well.  When we are introduced the the “wellness center”, it is obvious that it is not an ordinary wellness center.  The mysterious of the wellness center is very intriguing and it really got my attention.  I like the fact that The wellness center has retro feel to it and it just look very creepy.  It is obvious that the movie is setting up for big surprise coming at the end of the movie.

I hate to say it but there is no big surprise ending.  The movie slowly untangles the mysterious of the wellness center and about 2/3 of the movie, it is pretty clear where the movie is headed.  If you are expecting big surprise ending, you’ll be very disappointed.  I wasn’t completely satisfied  how the movie ended.  In fact, I felt the ending is bit over the top and doesn’t really make sense.

Even with disappointing ending and overall story line, it isn’t completely terrible movie.  First of all, the cinematography is just amazing. Just cinematography itself draws you into the movie.  Also the acting is top notch specially by Lockhart played by Dane DeHaan.

In the Nutshell

Cure for Wellness draws you in with all the mystery and creepiness, but it fall flat at the end.  I give 3 out of 5 stars.
