The Review (Spoiler Free)
The story is about this divorced and alcoholic mom and her daughter. During the road trip to see her daughter’s father, they got into an accident in the remote part of the woods. First they thought it was an animal, but it turned out it is something much horrifying.
In first 30 minuets of the movie, we get to see the dysfunctional relationship between the mom and her daughter. But the rest of the movie is about the mom and daughter struggle to survive from this mysterious creature in the woods. During the struggle, we see snips of flash back of their relationship which tells us it is more of deeper symbolic movie.
Obviously this isn’t high budget movie but the special effects in the movie is adequate. We see enough of the creepy monster to be terrified. I am happy that the monster don’t look like cheesy CGI effect.
I think I already gave too much away. Obviously this type of movie is bit more complex then just simple monster movie. Movie like this is best to not know what the movie is about. This type of movie is for the audience to slowly figure out what the movie is about as the movie untangle itself.
Both lead actors, Zoe Kazan and Ella Ballentine, did fabulous job specially Ella Ballentine who played the daughter in the movie. Child actors are very crucial to the horror movies like this and she really shines in this movie.
Rest of the casts include Aaron Douglas, Christine Ebadi, Marc Hickox, Scott Speedman,
