The Story
Motherly is home invasion horror. Well sort of. Kate (Lora Burke) and her daughter Beth live alone in an isolated farmhouse in the woods, but when Kate slowly begins to suspect that something sinister is happening, her motherly instincts are put to the test.

The Review
A single mom and her daughter live alone in the house, and someone breaks into the house and ties them down in the baseman. The movie quickly reveals who the villains are and what they want from them.
Motherly is a low-budget movie, and it does feel like a made-for-TV movie. You might be tempted to just give up on the movie, but don’t. Because it has a surprising ending. And it is worth watching it through.
The acting is pretty decent. Pay attention to the quick flashbacks at the start because they turned out to be a clue to the surprise ending. The production is okay, a bit overwhelming by the loud ambient score that lurks in the background.
In the Nutshell
Motherly is watchable, but it isn’t memorable. [3 out of 5 stars]
