Fermat’s Room Review (2009)

I like this horror movie from Spain. Well, I can’t really say this is a horror movie. It is more like mystery.

The Review (Spoiler Free)

The story is about three mathematicians and one inventors who are invited to this mysterious mansion. They are given a problem to solve. If they can’t solve the problem, the room starts to shrink. Its almost like in Star Wars. Remember when Luke, Solo, and Leia got trapped in big garbage disposal room and it started to shrink?  Meanwhile, they have to solve the problem so they don’t die meanwhile figure out why they are there, how are they related to each other, and who is really behind this.

Throughout the movie, the audiences are left to guess what is going on in the movie.  The movie is screaming for surprise ending.  The movie does have surprise ending and it is satisfactory. The movie also explains everything at the end including all the connection between each casts.

As you can tell, it is low-budget foreign film. You can easily tell by the production value.  But it doesn’t distract from enjoying the movie. The movie is not perfect.  It does have some plot holes but at the end, it is still enjoyable.

The movie is directed by Luis Piedrahita and Rodrigo Sopeña. Luis Piedrahita is born in La Coruña and Rodrigo Sopeña is from Spain.  Spain has consistently delivered intriguing films, it is not surprise this is a Spanish movie.
