I don’t really categorize this movie as horror but it is fun shark movie to watch.
The Review (Spoiler Free)
You might say, there are so many other killer shark movies out there, what is so special about this movie? Well, there are 3 things that stands out.
- I like the main character Nancy played by Blake Lively. Her acting is very good. The movie does little bit of character development and we know just enough to care about her and rooting for her to survive. Besides very attractive.
- The Shallow is shot at New South Wales, Australia. The beach and the surf is just perfect. There were lots of awesome shot of ocean and surfing throughout the movie.
- It has lots of suspense. The movie takes about 30 min to setup the story and character and it goes into suspense right away. As she struggle to survive, audiences are rooting for her. The movie keeps you guessing if she is going to survive or not until the end.
OK, I do admit the ending is not so great. We all know she is going to survive but the question is how she is going to kill the killer shark. Well, she does it kill but they way it happen is bit laughable. It is bit of cartoon-ish ending. The killer sharks are all done in CGI. We don’t get to see the shark as much until the end. When we do get to see the shark, CGI wasn’t all that great. I look so much like cartoon. I feel like the You’ll see what I am talking about if you see the movie. I won’t give it away anymore. Just don’t expect much from the ending.
The casts of the The Shallow is pretty small. Besides the main character Nancy, there aren’t anyone with big role. Rest of the casts include Oscar Jaenada, Brett Cullen, Sedona Legge, Angelo Josue, and Lozano Corzo.
In the Nutshell
Overall, the movie is still very enjoyable. I give 4 out of 5 stars (Not perfect but good enough to enjoy)
