The Dark Tapes found-footage horror anthology with four different stories.
The Review (Spoiler Free)
I am a big horror anthology fan. I’m also big fan of found footage horror. So when I learned about The Dark Tapes, I was excited to watch the movie.
The Dark Tapes is horror anthology. It has four different stories. All the stories are shot in found-footage format. The first segment is called To Catch a Demon. It is wraparound segment and in between the segment features the rest of the three segments.
To Catch a Demon is about sleep paralysis. The Hunters and the Hunted is haunted house story similar to Paranormal Activities. Cam Girls is webcam horror. Lastly, the last story is called Amanda’s Revenge, and I’m not sure what this story is all about.
I have mixed feeling about the movie. All of the stories has so much potential but it fails short. Mostly because of the bad acting and cheesy special effects. I understand that the movie is low budget film with budge of 60k, but it was bit difficult to sit through the movie.
My favorite story is The Hunted and Hunted. It started out just like Paranormal Activity type of horror but it has very surprising ending which I really liked. To Catch a Demon started out really well and has lots of potential. The movie deals with other dimension and has bit of sci-fi twist to it. But the story looses its focus and I lost interest towards the end. Cam Girls has some good concept but the acting was pretty bad, and the ending was big let down. Amanda’s Revenge was all over the place and I wasn’t sure what the story is all about.
